A fifteen year old girl refuses to go back to Freedom High School. After a muscularity to start a Caucasian Club at her preponderantly white school in predominantly white Oakley she has been receiving a great deal of harassment from her peers. Other students call her a racist. Yet in that location is a Black Student brotherhood for African Americans, a Latinos Unidos for Latin Americans and an ALOHA Club for Asian Americans at Freedom High, so why shouldnt there be a Caucasian Club? It would only be fair. This is precisely what fifteen year old Lisa McLelland thought.
Much of the arouse white students expressed stems from their belief that in a colorblind society, where maxims like all men are created equal are sacrosanct, race- found organizations are racist and discriminatory toward whites. The bifurcated white consciousness sorry from the contradictions amongst ideal and real cultural expectations raises a sad question for many whites: If the socioeconomic playing field has been leveled between whites and nonwhites, why must the majority of social interactions revolve nigh racial identity, and why should whites be the new losers in these exchanges? (Gallagher 307)
