Patient S.E
S.E is currently a patient at St. Francis Memorial Hospital on the behavioral Health unit. She is a 22-year old Caucasian female who attends San Francisco State University. She is recently brought in by her family because of their concern about her suicidal ideation. S.E is angry at her family for this and did not want to stay. As a result, she was put on a 5150 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. The patient has a history of delusional thinking, depression, manic behaviors, not sleeping, and paranoid suspicious behavior. She too has a history of several hospital admissions because of her diagnosis of bipolar Affective Dis monastic order, but this is her first time at St. Francis Behavioral Health unit.
While universe interviewed, her mother shows up for a visit and the interview continued with both of them. In the counterbalance of the interview with comely S.E alone, she was in denial for having changes in inclination or times where her mood is euphoric and elevated. The patient states that she is except suffering from depression and having suicidal thoughts. She refuses to take medications because she believes that there is vigour wrong with her. She believes that this is the result of the miscommunication and conflict amongst her mother and her.
She denies having experiencing whatsoever manic behaviors when asked; however, as the interview progresses, through the interaction between her mother and her, she becomes convinced that she does, in fact, exhibit manic behaviors on top of her depression and suicidal thoughts. S.E then describes her illness as, being really sad for long periods of time…eventually it goes off and Im bright…maybe too happy but thats what manic is...very happy and I just feel the likes of sharing my happiness with everyone. However, she sometimes feels like her family is making a big deal out of cipher because I am not always having mood swings…I think they just want me here.
