Alcoholism and the aboriginal American: A Risk and resiliency Analysis

The commonwealth and problem area that I expect chose to focus on for this paper on risk and resiliency is the problem of alcoholism among Native Americans in our country. My interest in this population was initially sparked by the revelation that my maternal great-grandmother was 50 percent Native American. This information was completely new to me and was revealed during a recent family reunion. So when I was presented with the opportunity to explore the barriers that live on in the treatment of any problem within a population while enrolled in a Professional convention Skills course this past spring; the Native American population and the treatment of alcoholism appeared to be a natural fit.
And now, in this course I have been presented with an opportunity to facilitate an in-depth digest of the risk and resilience factors present within any U.S. population.
formerly again, I am finding myself drawn to the Native American population and the problem of alcoholism; in hopes of discovering and exploring any correlations that may exist between the problem of alcoholism that was faced by my Native American ancestors and the legacy of this addiction that appears to be rife within my family as I know it today.
Description of the population.
In the 2010 enumerate it was documented that the total U.S. population was 308.7 million. Of this total population statistic, 1.7 percent of the U.S. population identified themselves as American Indian (or Native American) and or as a member of the Alaska Native (alone or in-combination with one or more other race) (U.S. Census Bureau, 2010).
