1.World War I and World War II were both extremely great events that had a major impact on European history. I feel WWII had the heavier impact for many curtilages. Prior to WWII the European economy, in particular Germany had been in a depression. Although Hitler failed in his runner attempt to rent over the government he would prove to later be successful. People were persuaded so easily because they had nothing good very going for them and Hitler seemed to be the best solution.
September 1, 1939, proved to be a day the world will never forget. Compared to WWI the applied science had proven to be a huge factor in this war. World War I was a war fought predominately in the trenches compared to WWII where everything was fought differently all the way from the Luftwaffe which was considered the German air forte all the way to Blitzkrieg or Lightning War which was a quick way of overpowering countries like Poland.
Another reason I feel that WWII had a heavier impact on European history is for the simple fact that non European countries were brought into it. WWII incorporated the regular army and Japan because of the style of leadership in those countries. If it wasnt for the the States things may have ended up a dish differently than they did.
The United States was successful in helping France in the battle of Normandy.
The main reason I feel WWII was held in higher regard was because of the death toll. World War I had an estimated death toll of around ten million casualties. That may seem like a lot at first glance but when you put it into perspective Hitler was able to finish genocide on over 12 million great deal which included the Jews, Slavs, homosexuals, and gypsies. The population in Europe was dramatically impoverished after WWII.
