The Horrors of Slavery
There argon umpteen reasons to agree and to disagree with the statement that the greatest catastrophe of slavery was the permanent separation of families.
The Afri stools went by means of many terrific things when being forced to evacuate their homes and herded to America, but being separate from family was not necessarily the lash of these. Many of the Africans captured for the slave address were not fully grown men, but innocent teentsy children. This would be a horrific note for any person, but for a child, the experience would be even to a greater extent traumatizing and frightening. The treatment of the Africans once they were on the ships was cruel and inhumane. They were stashed in the ships cargo hold like sardines with merely enough room to turn around. The sobbing women and the cries of the dying rendered the intact a scene of horror almost inconceivable (Holt 87).



It can be argued that the journey to the New World was far more tragic than anything that happened when they got there, including the separation of families.
Of all the injustices of slavery, many of the victims, including Oladuah Equiano, said the worst part of it all was being separated from their loved ones. When in a situation as tragic, horrible and terrifying as the Africans faced after being stolen from their hometowns and seeing an end to sprightliness as they knew it, the only comfort many of them could find was in their family members and loved ones who faced the same cruel fate. The so-called nominated Christians tore apart families without scruple (Holt 88).
